Figured this would get better attention here vs in the wheel/tire section.

Tires for drag racing. I'm currently running the Hoosier DBR in a 28x11.5-17 and they do ok. They aren't great but I can likely attribute some of that to our track prep.
For TX2K this year, I'm required to run a D.O.T tire. I have a set of MT 315/50-17 on order but the expected ship date keeps getting pushed back, and I don't like last minute situations.

I found a new set for sale by an individual for $900 which is high, but I'm in a bind. Or I can get a set of Hoosier QTP in a 28x11.5 I have 28x6 radial front runners, and I have a little concern about "slick walk" but I'm more concerned if the QTP will work as well as the MT

I hate to spend $900 on the MT and the ones I have ordered show up in time. I hate to buy the QTP and them not be enough for the car.

I'm currently running upper mid 9's (9.6/9.7's) and putting down right at 900whp

Any help/advice/experience is appreciated

Short question
hope and pray my tires on order show up
buy over pried 315/50
try QTP 28x11.5

I see that, I was able to get a new set of racing tires back in November, glad I got them when I did! Not to mention they are out of stock again...

can you find any 305/45 which are 28" tall compared to those which are 29.5" or do you want the taller tires to add in hook?

Just doing a summit search they want $800 plus there will be tax. If you can get them for $900 out the door that isn't to much more I guess

What happened to $500 was high

They said will ship in two weeks. Thats the story I've been getting since November so I'll just leave my order in place and watch stock on the QTP while I wait I guess
We all played the game. Sometime companies actually have the parts but for the most part they are waiting on the manufacturer. Doesn't hurt to call places cause you never know

I was told resently by a company insider that the new 315/55R17 ET STREET R were in stock at the Mickey Thompson's, Ohio Distribution warehouse. Maybe try and drop ship a set through Summit or Jegs or McCormack Racing???? With that power you need to kill some starting line ratio. This tire is 31" tall and should fit your car.

A 50 series tire would not fit on my narrow body Charger.

Tires still ain't perrty. But some times the critters they fit on can be a different snorty of sorts. Makes a difference when the weather changes and the stills stay at a constant 172 degrees. Get rid of the head, depends on the head, and get to the sistah. Mixer up. Now to the bridge, still there and I thank the lord the Candians have dun their do delill egance. Well played.

Not without work.

Charger has more room than challenger though...but it still takes minor mods to clear a 315/50/17 ET Street R.

Pounding the ribs flat and molding/pinning the fender liner. I chose not to pin and instead heat molded everything into place. Took several hours to perfect the bottom front where it interfaces with the floor liners at the hard corner and pins together. That was the worst spot. But not overly difficult. It would still rub a.bit at full droop but under weight of car I have football fields of room.

You should not need a 31" tall tire to run in the 9's. The tune and suspension should be looked at 1st

I forgot that they were for 20" wheels...😳😳😳

Agreed. I'm at a 9.6-9.7 on a 28 leaving soft. I was hoping to be able to leave on everything next month at HRP so was thinking the 315 would be better for me. I did recently swap shocks for the track though and they defiantly seem to be doing what they should. I'm just up in the air about trying the Hoosier QTP 28x11.5, or staying hopeful that my 315's ship on time

Dang, 31” is a tall ass tire. Seems like overkill to me. Do these cars really need a tire that tall or is that only when you are double pulley, E85, etc… much higher power level?

Talk about inflation, I got a price about 6 months ago on two 10x18 somewhat special drag wheels I want for my Red Eye. They wanted $650 each. Called yesterday and they now want $1,050 each. That’s just greedy price gouging in my book.
