Seems to be getting contagious

Layoffs for non union staff are going to really hurt some families

As I m typing this I just heard Casino s in Detroit are talking about walking too

Soon a donut & a coffee will be 20 bucks

I never was a Casino guy...maybe twice a year if that...the floor noise from slot machines drives me crazy...but I do enjoy a good poker game...every other month we do a hold em game...(7 of us)...500.00 buy in...it's a great time...eat and drink like we're going to the chair...I wouldn't miss it...

I have a relative just like that. He tells me he knows where the best slot machines are located and has the odds all figured out. I always hear when he hits for a grand or two. He gets some free concert tickets and a room at the casino on occasion. Belongs to the "Diamond Club". Even gets a few supposedly free gifts like a crappy waffle maker or immersion blender that he gives away. He's single, makes good money at his job, no kids, lives frugally, drives beater cars, won't burn propane in his furnace because it costs too much money and instead cuts down the trees around his home to split up to use for firewood. Most of the trees are gone now. His 401-k and savings account are not in good shape. I love him like a brother but he's got a problem and is the last to know it (or admit it). He recently played some state ran online lottery game and won $1,000. He called me and told me he was pissed because he thought he had won $1,000,000 and was only getting $1,000. The tickets for the game cost $100 a piece. I'm pretty sure he bought more than one ticket. I'm not against someone gambling a little if they can afford to and entertain themselves in the process providing they know how to keep it in check. It is tragic though that some cannot and it can ruin lives.

Just about everybody knows somebody like that...they say it's a sickness...I say it's more of a compulsion...bordering on addiction when done every day...

The UAW on Monday added another factory to its strike against the Detroit Three automakers, bringing the total number of workers on strike to more than 40,000.
Driving the news: Roughly 6,800 workers walked out of Stellantis' plant in Sterling Heights, Michigan, on Monday in a surprise expansion of the historic labor stoppage.

• The factory makes the Ram 1500 pickup, one of the most popular vehicles in the country and the most important model in the Stellantis lineup.
• It's the seventh assembly plant the UAW has shut down during the strike, which also includes 38 parts distribution facilities.
• The UAW blasted Stellantis' most recent offer, saying it's "the worst proposal on the table regarding wage progression, temporary worker pay and conversion to full-time, cost-of-living adjustments (COLA), and more."
