Ordered a new air filter. Not because the original was dirty, but it was nowhere near flat enough anymore. DSCN0101.JPG DSCN0102.JPG

If you get a P2111 and a P2811, something like this could be the reason.

It put the engine in beyond limp mode, practically eliminated the brakes, and everything on the dash that could supposedly lit up.

Was lucky that it ran well enough to barely make it up on the trailer, and that she was a mere 30 some miles from home when it happened...and in a place where there was a shoulder to pull over on.

No, that's on her Crew Cat. They have a maybe 3.5" tube coming from the far left part of the grille, and another path from below. Forgot to look at where that one originates.

Must be a rare thing to have happen no matter what.

Got it back from True Street. Jim said the exhaust "walked" out over time from the part where it meets the valves and he redid the whole exhaust and tack welded it together. All is good again!
Think about rigging a couple of these on the cover:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/157080700279?var=458587429661

I wired my float charger cord through the grill so I don't need to open and close the hood every time I drive it. Now need to be careful not to back out when still plugged in. I rigged these to let me know when I do it, they are pretty loud for a POS cheapie.

Might cause a high teen to walk away quickly.

filters fit tight. Hard to believe it pulled it through
Yeah, the bag must have first spread itself over most of the filter area, then found/made a temporary gap to make it past the filter.

She did say she'd just passed a car, which means she floored it. Or at least close to it.

Have you considered just leaving the hood open? It works well on our Challengers, and should help the gas struts live a little longer.

As an added bonus, it's hard to forget that the hood's open.

Yep, I will admit i backed out the Cat one time with the charger still attached - hood open from then on. Also did it one time with my little Yamaha scooter [dunno][dunno]

You sucked a plastic bag in your throttle body??
I can't take credit for doing it.

Most of the bag was balled up at the throttle blade, and with some luck I got at least 95% of it out. After clearing the codes the dash is free of warning lights and it seems to run like it should.

Of course I only drove it off the trailer and to its parking spot since the filter isn't quite what it used to be. Can't close the lid over it.

I ordered a warning flag from Amazon that says "Batt Tender Attached", like the "Remove Before Flight" flag. I attach it to the steering wheel when I attach the charger IMG_0848.jpg

WTF????

Ok, I did read the rest finally. Holy shit how strange Jimmy!!!
Strange indeed, but it could've been a lot worse.

Yes, it would've been easier had my 3500 not been blocked in by my new and not operational tow vehicle, and had the trailer with the winch not had about five yards of gravel in front of it. Had no choice but to take her 3500, which has nothing in the way of tools, extinguisher, etc. in it, and the little 18' trailer.

A really good thing was that had it happened another couple of hundred feet down the road, there's no cell service for about eight miles. Then she couldn't even have called AAA, had the rollback damage the splitter and whatever they'd tie the car down with, dump it at the dealer some 110 miles away - where they would've diagnosed and fixed the issue for only several hundred dollars. Took me five minutes, and the cost of a new filter. DSCN0100.JPG

By the way, before I had unearthed the problem I had my girlfriend halfway talked into ordering a Durango Hellcat.
