So where are we on buying unlocked ECMs and running them for mods, and then swapping the original back in for service?

Its interesting how Dodge can engineer a code so undefeatable to deny a warranty, yet they can't apply the same level of technology to prevent our cars from being stolen by ordinary street thugs.

well - denying warranty claims saves them money. When our cars get stolen, it costs them nothing.

The PCM itself in isolation doesn't know that it's been changed, however other modules do. The theory on this is the BCM has copies of all California CARB compliant checksums. Once the car is started with a PCM that broadcasts a different checksum the BCM says to the PCM "hey bro flip 1400 on for me" and the PCM complies.

Also another theory, the PCM says hey, BCM, what checksum should I be on? BCM says bro "ABC". PCM says well I'm on "XYZ" lemme alert someone with a 1400. This seems to be the more plausible event because the Demon owners that have put in the other PCM get a 1400. Anyway, I have a BCM from ebay I'll be ripping the firmware soon and can confirm.

What ever happened to the Direct Connection tuner, which I believe is a Diablo tuner. Full warranty maintained and i don't believe a new PCM ia needed?

Of course it might still be vaporware even though it was announced ages ago.

Vaporware of course

I prefer the more descriptive and legal term "bullshit." As in, "that programmer was bullshit. That crock of shit will never see the light of fucking day. Your honor."

Theoretically, if you have no concerns for your warranty but are worried about say CA smog checks. Would swapping the original factory PCM in for the check be an issue assuming no other mods done except for tunning?

Not sure I follow, you want a P1400 code embedded in the thieves, too?

Ideally, I would like to see a .223 or .45 code imbedded in the thieves foreheads, but a P1400 code would be nice for them too.
