2016 Challenger Hellcat M6
My best friend's dad was a Lincoln Mercury executive. He brought a 427 '68 Cougar XR7 GTE home to let my buddy drive for the weekend. It was one of 356 made and quicker than the 428 Cobra Jets. We took it to Woodward Ave and got our ass handed to us a couple times that night. There were a lot of cars quicker than a stock Hemi on Woodward in those days.

The mercury offerings from 69/71 offered luxury and performance...and they were not cheap...

I think I told you about the guy that approached me at a car show and asked how fast my old 2009 Challenger ran. Hood was up and you could obviously see the supercharger. I told him 10.90s at about 132MPH and he laughed and told me his bone stock 1970 Challenger ran 10s and "didn't need no supercharger to do it". He had his teenage kid with him so I tried to just laugh it off but he was super obnoxious about it. Finally I told him to go get his 14 second car and lets line up out front for tittles. He just mumbled and trailed off.

LOVE that car. Only wish they had made it with a 4speed. All were auto. Quickly discontinued. 427 GTE has the designation of the ONLY 427 in a pony car. Zero Mustangs ever got the side oiler. I would love to add one someday. Super hard to find. Reminds me of the 68 RA II Firebird. Wicked fast too and underappreciated/known.

Awesome ride. Great looking too!

My neighbor waz a Ford sazesmon and he brought home a 1973 Pantera in 73. 455 cobra jet 6 speed gear box. It wood take about most of any thang on da road. Dooing 130 in 3rd waz snot a problem. In da garage he had a 70s red, 2 dur, convertzable, white top, Galaxy 500. Very nice and clean. He liked 2 drive fast and drink beer. Not at da same time. Beez 4 dat job, he waz a coopurate jet piolet. Fast flyer. By da way, my cousin waz a test fighter piolet fer da Navy. He died on a test flight.

I bought a 1970 Challenger in 1970 . 440 six pack four speed with 410s. 9 3/4 Dana rear. Best I ever ran with "slicks" at either Keystone Dragway or Quaker City in Ohio was 13.08.

Local guy has one, I got a ride in it. Beautiful Turquoise, single 4-barrel, restored to basic perfection. Wish I had a picture. Cougars really are pretty, they do not bring the $$$ like Mustangs do. I'm lucky to have been in so many nice old musclecars, they do not hold a candle to this new stuff however, well except for styling/sound. Our modern Mopars have that the most of any of the new stuff IMO.

Same dad also brought home one of the first 428 Mach 1 Cobra Jets. We were told it was a prototype. Don’t if that part is accurate. Good times.
