Now that you mention octane I always ran vp octainum on top of my 93 when I went to he track. Around town it was just 93 and it never pulled any timing ever.

DD would be the easiest by far on it. Unless you got WOT you're not really using any performance parts properly imho. I'd run 93 octane just to be safe.

Yeah there sure does seem to be a lot of people running these and I haven't seen any problems yet, but it is a very new product, like less than a year old really. Tempting not to get one, it is on my mod list at this time. I can only make 11-12 pounds of boost here at just over a mile high, would love to get that back up to 14 psi. I can only get 91 octane pump gas here, don't know if 93 would be required then to run 14 psi? Isn't the recommended(or should I say minimum required) fuel at sea level for these cars 91 on the stock tune?

As far as needing a tune, there are a lot of people running these on the stock tune, and Steve at Ripatuned says you definitely do not need one to run it.

Normally with 91 octane you would need octane booster but at your elevation you may be ok. I would not run it without a datalog in any situation. Datalogs are easy and you can even use a lock tuner to do it.

Yeah I think you are right, there's nothing better for peace of mind than knowing for sure on that data log that it's running right. Thanks!

Just FYI, FAS makes these for Ripatuned
Interesting and good to know. I've just seen the name "Ripatuned" on them. Didn't know he outsourced them.

Make sure you tune, anytime you add air, better add fuel, don't care how they market it!

2 psi is like 40HP right? Not sure it'd be worth it for just that.

I’m trying to start small since I’m doing the install myself also not trying to spend a lot of money. It was 900 with the crank pin kit. I emailed josh at dusterhoff to see about a tune after so I’ll see what he says and go from there

For your case doesn't sound like the right solution. An email tune will get you more and leave the rest stock for now.

I dunno, I mean 40 hp for less than a grand is pretty good...what else pays off like that? I’m curious if you consider this to be a safe mod though?

Safe is stock and even that is questionable lol.

You'll get more from just a tune.
