Is that a bar welded to the rear cradle for jacking up the car from??

I’m sure you could use it for that, I always thought it was for a place to tie it down from in the trailer if you wanted to.

So I made it to the track for the second time this year and made a few passes. Test and tune on Friday was my first 1/4 mile times and race day Saturday was 1/8 th mile.
Unfortunately conditions weren’t the greatest. Even though this was the biggest event of the season for this track, the track prep was horrible and this is not just my opinion but that of everyone I spoke with. Some pro mod guys had paid $3000 to rent the track and only made a couple passes before shutting down because they felt it was unsafe. Lots of guys in the fast cars were losing traction by 100’, nobody was happy and there were lots of complaints.
I’m not sure why the track decided to cheap out on their prep but I am sure they will feel the repercussions of their decision, which is unfortunate as our options here are already quite limited as far as tracks go.
On top of the poor track prep the weather conditions weren’t optimal either as it was hot and humid with pretty bad air conditions, rain was in the forecast all weekend and although we escaped it Friday and Saturday, Sunday racing was rained out and called off first thing.
At friday test and tune I managed a 10.96 1/4 mile at 121.85 mph at the trap and a 1.573, 60’ time with a 7.0159 1/8 mile at exactly 100 mph.
My best run Saturday was a 1.558, 60’ with a 6.944 1/8 th mile at 100.69 mph. Nothing to brag about but those were the numbers and I still had fun.
I did have a few hiccups with the car and the “line lock” procedure at the burnout box, as it would put the car in limp mode for a few seconds and drop all the power. Not sure if it was glitching out for some reason or if I was screwing up the procedure but it certainly rattled me at the moment and didn’t help my reaction times. Oh well more experience will hopefully solve these issues. Also I couldn’t get the car to go into its cooldown mode after my runs because it was giving me a low battery warning in the cooldown menu. It is the original battery and is 7 years old now so it’s probably on its way out and I will likely just replace it and hopefully fix that issue.
Even with the issues it was a great weekend at the track, between seeing some old friends and making some new ones lots of fun was had. The comradery at the track never ceases to impress me and who doesn’t love the smell of race fuel and rubber ! Our daughter and granddaughter came to the track and spent the night with us which was honestly the highlight of my weekend. Maybe one day she will be sending my car down the track and showing her granddude how it’s done.

can you give us an update on Mods and a bluff on the car build.. I know I am subscribed but curious at those MPH #'s why we went with a 9 inch?

It’s all in the start of this thread but basically I had an opportunity to buy some used parts at about 25% of retail cost.
The parts included the GForce modified cradle that comes with a Ford 9”, Outlaw axels and a 1 piece aluminum driveshaft and it also came with the full AAD Dragpack installed and front and rear “ demon killer” springs.
I was already looking at purchasing the AAD kit and the DIRS support which would have cost me more than everything I bought.
It seemed to me that the car already had lots of HP but also had trouble getting that HP to the track as well as having potential for busting driveshafts, axels and differential.
The used parts I purchased basically allowed me to unbolt my stock parts and bolt them in with a minimal amount of work while saving all my stock parts from potential destruction and still giving me the option of putting the car back to original with minimal work.
I also figured I would be able to make HP modifications down the road and have a setup that theoretically was less prone to breakage.
I was aware that the 9” potentially robbed some power but that didn’t bother me because if you can’t get the car to hook up anyways adding horsepower didn’t accomplish much other than bragging rights.
Maybe I am out to lunch on my thinking but at least I’m not worried about trashing my stock parts and the car can easily go back to original if I ever decide to sell it, which I doubt I ever will.
Likely this winter I will do a “stage 2 kit” that optimizes for 93 octane and leave it at that because E85 is not readily available anywhere near me, but who knows I may end up changing my mind on that as well.
