Some cars are now running faster than what Pro Stock cars ran in the 1980's (high 7's/low 8's).

And consider current Pro Stock cars (world record 6.4 @ 215 mph) require welded 4130 chrome-moly steel tubing, an integrated cage and safety restraints.

As many of us here used to race/still race lesser vehicles, this is all very sad.🙏
I had a Nova with a 427 then a 468 big block.
Cage, 12" slicks
power glide

We thought it was bad ass running 10.80s and driving it to the cruise night a half mile down the road.
The 468 was a little more radical and the best it ever ran was a 10.07.
Bought a 540 for it then sold most of the stuff.

Drove a Z06 and a Hellcat both running in the 10s. I loved that Nova, but good God are these new cars fast AND docile.

That they are.

That's some list of cars you had there. And to think there are production cars today running 9's/10's with no roll cage.

The new ZR-1 Vette is the fastest all ICE car C&D has run for 2025, with the Porsche 718 Spyder RS coming in second.
(I don't count batteries-on-wheels as "real" cars)

They tested the ZR-1 at 9.5 sec/149 mph, and the 718 at 10.9 sec/127 mph:

The street strip cars that used to run 9s and everyone though was fast now run low 8s to high 7s.
The radical shit is low 7s to 6s

But now we are back around to this Jeep. I believe this is one capable of going 170+ out the back door. That needs all the safety equipment you can get. And now its not really streetable as you have to climb through a jungle gym to get in and out of the thing.
I had a roll bar in my 20s. Daily drove it. Didn't mind. Now im in my 40s. Fuck that bar LOL.
