Super sad to hear, working in that more of a freelance setting(I am only speculating) he may not have had good insurance to protect him from a huge bill. Say what you want about capitalism and free market economy and for-profit healthcare, but I wish our country had some protection for people in these situations. I think we are the only country in the world that you can go bankrupt from medical care debt. We also probably have the best doctors and hospitals too though.

US healthcare is pretty atrocious for the $$$ they bring in.
The system can be better but lots of rich people would lose a lot of money and a lot more people would be out of work.

Politicians are not signing up to lose their next election either.

Any radical change will come from a 1 party rule with super majorities in House and Senate. That is how Obamacare was passed. And I don't think its moved the needle much other than get people insurance who otherwise couldn't get it.

We just went through this and it took until the 3rd hospital for my wife to get the proper care which saved her life. She would have died at the 2 hospitals we tried at 1st.

So many are advised to put their family members in hospice. Either they don't want to treat or they just don't know what to do.

Exactly.

There's plenty of stupid doctors out there who are dangerous to the patients.

We were extremely fortunate to get her into the Baptist Heart Hospital and get the "rock star" cardiologist.

We've had to again fire all of our doctors. They misdiagnosed her for months as she continued to get worse.
