I’m scheduled to take the M6 into the dealer for its first wheel alignment this Friday. The only reason I am doing this is because textured roads (and most in northern Maine seem to be) will cause the car to pull in the direction of the texture. Here in NH it seems fine, and at Land Speed Trials it seemed fine (to 190).

1. Do you guys think I should just not do the algnment?

2. If I do do it, is it best to align to factory specs? I have 305’s on the rear.

My fear is that I don't want to fix something that's not broke. The car is fine on 99% of the roads I use. I just wonder if maybe the pulling on texture is a sign of poor alignment/worn parts. Cars has 18k.

I would appreciate your thoughts.

Thanks!

I can't speak much to what to shoot for end result specs on a diff tire setup, but can you have the shop print out the current specs results and compare that to how far out of whack it is compared to OEM specs? From there, you can decide if you want them making any adjustments.

If it tracks straight on a flat smooth surface and the tires are wearing evenly, I’d leave it alone. It’s normal to follow a road’s crown.

Not sure what tires are on my 06 Viper...(some sort of run flats)....but on anything less than a perfectly flat surface....the car is brutal,,,,:(

Thanks for telling what I was thinking, I cancelled the alignment. I have had good luck NOT messing with things that are ok so I'll continue that strategy here.

Back in the day, I had a 20' Hydrostream with a stock 200 Merc, it would do 79 on good water. In the 16 years I owned it I never let anyone touch the engine! I just changed plugs. When it was old, I needed to give it a bit more throttle when starting it, but it still did 79!
