Ain't no FCA plants shutting down until:
-The government(s) order them to do so
-Or they realize that there are already too many vehicles in the pipeline and nobody is buying them
-Or supplier shortages force them to shut down
The minivan plant in Canada was shut down by the employees who basically walked out and told management to do something besides lip service. It's probably back open by now. There have been infections reported in a couple plants already. FCA management say they are "cleaning and sanitizing" and "spreading workers out", but no such thing is happening. Production continues as normal. We did get some swell posters on how to wash your hands though...

Do they teach you to sing happy birthday when you wash your hands?

Ask them if they can bring in some of those old black and white hygiene movies from the '50's that they used to show in school :p

Production workers, we’re screwed. Exactly correct, until mandated by the government to which they can seek massive tax write offs for the inflated losses the people who make the things that keep the country running, even if it’s non essential like a new car and countless other stuff will be at work without the PPE or protocols needed to keep us safe. Why not just do temporal scanning on entry for a fever, nope, cost to much or done horse shit to hard to enforce etc etc. I work in an industrial setting, it’s business as normal except instructions to not go this that or the other while the wheels who just sit in offices get to work from home. The usual, Fu*k the little guy.

I’m working on a massive public transportation construction project in Boston. All construction projects in Boston have been shut down. Not ours though. I guess we are considered essential? More like a expendable I bet. I try and keep my distance from guys on the site. Unfortunately construction workers are not always the smartest or cleanest. They are expected to do the job no matter what as well. Virus be damned. I feel safer working outside however. All I do is run air samples. If not for those damn porta Johns. You need to wrap yourself in latex.

Shitbird logic like that is going to get people hurt or killed. Humanity is about to learn a real hard life lesson. I strongly recommend you document every day you were "ordered" to the jobsite and track these instances as hazardous occurences - report them to your workplace Health and Safety committee. There will be reparations paid by ignorant employers.

Looks like our problem isn't a plant shutdown (the car ready to go on 3-12), but has now self quarantined and refuses to get on a train.
Or the train refuses to allow it aboard. Whichever, it's not going anywhere.

I have documentation/logs everyday I was on site. I’m here now. I keep my distance from others as much as possible.

I’m fearful of the biggest economy collapse since the depression. The Chrysler plants may stay open but if the economy tanks they will be shutting down from zero sales. God help us all. Pray for an early and warm Spring to kill this virus.

Pretty sure that is what I was trying to say, I feel for you guys if you lose your jobs. I’m afraid this is way bigger than we may think.

One glimmer of hope in all this misery: our car is on it's first railroad trip.

I hope it’s not sitting for a while.

Its true for all 3. I found out yesterday from one of my dealerships while out to lunch. This is going to crush our auto industry if other manufactures follow.

Had a C8 being built? Waiting on your GT500? Good luck.

Looks like it sat for about five days before getting on the train.

I would cancel the order to get to the back of the line. Waiting another month or two has to be better than having a car built by a disgruntled crew that was asked to show up for work again.

I’m guessing it got built before the panic started and the toilet paper war hit the fan.
