The viper with the I6 hurricane was making north of 850hp I believe. The potential for that motor is high if they can keep it reliable. But they need to do something with the sound. WRT the V6 durango for 2026, I believe I read there were V6 Durangos that were already being built and in the ordering pipeline but supposidly after fall? no more will be made.

Wonder why they'd abandon such a well selling engine? Makes no sense whatsoever.

I’ve heard that they will have an SXT model but this weekend was about the I6 and Hemi’s.

I drove a GT Challenger to go pick up my Hellcat. Gas mileage was about 30. Our R/T saw a best of 29 on a 1000 mile trip. Even if it were a few mpg lower then that having 75 hp more with similar mpg and V8 sound makes more sense to get the 5.7

Yup, not buying another V6. I'd just keep the one I have.

Might start the buying process for a GT AWD 5.7 later today, at right about $40K. (MSRP $44,490).

That was quick. Already have the VON and VIN. Hope the production and delivery will also be.

Or at least quicker than the four months it took for the '19 Redeye to make it to the dealer after it was built.

Would be tough to pass on the 392 for just a little more $$$. It feels like a stronger power difference than the hp/tq ratings suggest IMO

No, it was surprisingly easy. I have no need for more than what the 5.7 puts out.

I like the V6, and it's fine in the Challenger, but the Durango is just too heavy for it, especially at altitude.

It's a friggin' beater car, Eric. A 5.7 is enough for it.

Heck, if the '19 didn't have to drag a useless 3rd row seat, towing package, and heavy leather seats around, the V6 might have been good enough.

To me it feels better to drive to town, which is a mere 10 miles away, with a smaller engine. It has a fighting chance to get the oil up to temp during a 10+10 mile drive.

Don't know about a 6.4, but with a 6.2 it can be near impossible to get the oil warm in such a short distance.

My buddy's Durango RT has the 5.7 He'd have gotten the 6.4 but at the time that single option was $11K and wasn't worth the money. Now it's a no brainer I think. 5.7 is adequate and hauls my Demon 170 on an open trailer no problem, but more is more.

It does sound good. His has the Tow N' Go option that is basically everything SRT except the 6.4.

Okay, so I'm a no-brainer. But if a 5.7 is adequate for pulling a loaded trailer (which mine never ever will), it should be okay when not burdened with towing.

Basically, I didn't want another V6, saw no reason for getting the 6.4, and definitely didn't want a 6.2. I've looked at used cop cars in the past since the 5.7 and AWD could be had in those, and now I could get a new one, without several thousand idle hours. That really appealed to me.

Umm, since getting my first car.

And with the 'Cat I noticed that the oil gets plenty warm when sitting in stop and go traffic - something it got subjected to once due to roadwork. And in the same town that has our nearest stoplights.

Dug a little deeper. Looks like orders placed before 8-13 could have had the V6, which would explain why it showed up in the sales codes.

And supposedly the 392 can be ordered later this year at some point.
