With no cafe fees the sky is the limit. Just don't know how fast they can get something going but with knowing TRUMP was going to be in they may have already been moving forward the last 6 months. I had no issues buying used Dodges for many years to come and never was thinking on buying brand X just because Dodge didn't have anything but maybe now there could be something new I will buy

This video has and will always be exciting and what started it all

206 top speed!?!? Apparently the speed limiter was added after the commercial. :(

They still have emissions though don’t they? The emissions is what cost Stellantis so much money on the Hellcats not necessarily the mpg.

Not sure how the emissions cost them being they pass emissions in all 50 states. Stellantis didn't have enough gas mileage credits they had to buy them (from Tesla) for every Hemi sold

I’m not talking about passing emissions. Every car has to pass a certain emissions criteria or they can’t be sold. Every monroney sticker shows just how bad the car pollutes and from what I was told that was the biggest problem with the Hellcats and not the mileage. Essentially the Hellcat barely passes the minimum mandatory smog certification.

The consumer pays for the bad fuel mileage through the gas guzzler tax. The bad smog rating is what caused Stellantis to give Tesla an insane amount of money because of those smog ratings which are the worst possible rating of 1 out of 5.

So to me this could still be the problem since all I’ve heard about is CAFE which is fuel economy based and not pollution based.

Can't say I ever heard about that. Anything I heard had to do with MPG being to low in the whole fleet. But either way maybe still won't matter

I went and bought a Ford… not going to starve waiting for Dodge to pull their heads out of their asses.
I've been a Ford guy for decades (Mustang GT / Explorer ST / etc.).
You're kidding yourself if you think they are going to be any different.
They're not, and they won't be.

I wanted an American V8 SUV that was fast:

Dodge Durango SRT 392 ................ 0-60 4.5 sec ... 6.4L V8 ... 475 hp
Slower Ford Explorer ST ................ 0-60 5.2 sec ... 3.0L V6 ... 400 hp
Even Slower Chevy Tahoe RST ..... 0-60 5.9 sec ... 6.2L V8 ... 433 hp

The answer is plain and simple ... it's Dodge or bust.

Yes, there are still emissions standards but the penalty for NOT meeting the standards has been reduced to ZERO $$$$ so no cost even if you don't meet cafe standards for MPG

A 392 Durango will do a 4.0 0-60 and a 107 mph quarter indicating more than 475 hp is present. 92-93 octane gas in the tank and a good DA required.

True.

But I wanted to be conservative and go with average times, in normal weather conditions, with all my stuff in the vehicle.
With 91 octane, average DA, and ~100 lbs in tools + other stuff, I regularly hit 4.5 seconds.

Ok, that’s the SUV segment. My wife prefers her Explorer over the Durango, and she is the one that drives it so I buy her what she wants.
I wanted a supercharged truck that fit easily in places, and was street/strip not off-road, so I had to look elsewhere. Dodge still doesn’t make a decent street truck… they need a TRX driveline in a lowered, loaded, RAM, and they’ll sell thousands of them. Sign me up. Until they do, Ford will sell you one.
I wanted Dodge and RAM to be successful. My Hellcat was a dream come true. Delivered in every way. They need to continue offering things I want, or the other MFR will.
