Hey guys, I recently wrapped the rears in 305/35/20 Nitto 555r's and still getting some slippage. The best 0-60 that I've had so far, out of two runs, is 4 seconds flat. Granted, I was in the mountains of Mexico when I did this so maybe elevation played a factor? I thought these tires can get you to the mid/low 3 second 0-60?

Anyone have any advice on how to launch this cat? I haven't done a burnout yet if that matters, just feathered then mash the pedal down.

Psi currently is 32/33 depending on temperature.

Need to drop the psi to 28 or less. Do a burnout. Then roll into the throttle and time it so that you are floored by the time it switches to second gear or when you feel the car getting traction. Keep dropping your tire pressure till you get some traction.

Depending on your actual elevation, you've lost between 80-120hp...

says he is from Sacramento....Google says it is 30'

I think it takes a prepped track to get to the 0-60 time he is looking for.

If you are wanting good times drop that pressure into the low 20's.

low 3 second is very hard to do, you could do that on a strip, I have seen/heard stock hcs with drag radials do a 2.9 0-60 but again on a prepped surface. Best I have gotten so far on streets was at sea level on a 90 degree 0-60 in 3.4.

Alright, I'll have to try again this weekend and drop the psi down and light the tires up a bit. I was hoping to at least get under 4 seconds on the street.

I didn't launch in Sacramento by the way, city is way too condensed and traffic heavy for that.

Anyone have experience with "launch control"?

For better times I recommend Mickey Thompson et streets. Much better grip.

Agree 3.5 is real good; 3.4 exceptional on the street, ANY tire, because a drag radial don’t rule the day on the street.

the whole tire situation makes me wish they would offer rwd biased awd as an option. I'm 100% sure these cars would start dropping 0-60 in the high 2 low 3 second area.

What's your best times with the wb redeye?

What size wheels you running for the 305s? too small a wheel will not give you proper contact patch. Altitude is a killer. Got to find good asphalt too (i'm assuming you're doing these runs on the street). I personally found that on the street, my 555Rs (all sets actually did a little better with a near normal highway pressure in them but this may have been an artifact of my having to use west texas high temp high aggregate asphalt in my "place" Then, just plenty of seat time. These cars have so many variations of settings that its hard to compare apples to apples. Here, 2580, a great run is around 3.5, but that too is temperature dependent. Every ten degrees increase in inlet temp generally equates to about 1 % HP loss.

Are you just having fun launching on back streets or preparing for the Dragway or street racing?

20 x 11 in the rears so I think I'm good on the contact patch. I ran it in the backroads of the country side, probably some high elevation but it was the only safe place I could launch the kitty.

First run, 4 seconds flat, second run was 4.3...

Backroads in the countryside, just want to see where my $700 investment in tires went to.

About the same with just the wheels & tires. I can do a pretty regular 3.5. My '15 with all the suspension mods did that same time. After I get the rear end all stiffened up soon, so I can launch without hop, I expect it will get a little better. It pulls harder once you can get it open. That has been on these crappy and slick overlay surfaces. It would bite down harder on some good concrete also.

Nittos love to be heated so a Big Ole Smokey burnout will help out.
You should go to T&T night at your local Drag strip it is lots of fun or @DGatzby has lots of good times road racing.

I promise you going to to some track somewhere and meeting another Hellcat owner will bring lots of benefits

Slap on a set of drag radials. 20" MT Street SS if you don't go to the track often. If you really want grip and decide to go to the track the MT ETRs are the way to go. I have got 2.6 0-60 with them on my NB Redeye.

Thanks everyone, sounds like I should drop the psi of the rears down to 28, hit a smokey burnout, and visit the track. Only thing is, my local track only has drag nights on Wednesday when I'm not free.

Already got the second part of your recommendation, now just need the NOS and I should be good [woot]

I run the NT05r's in 20", at 26psi with a hard burnout it hooks really well.Again, I roll into throttle off line and it is pretty well full on right after it shifts to 2nd.
