Trans tuning

I'm getting ready to install my litens 2.85, 775 injectors, cold air intake and 180 T stat.

I plan on having curt tune the car.
Question I have is about the trans. I'd like to leave it stock but my son tells me that's when people are having failures. Is this correct?

I would have curt tune it it will hold up well
You will only race the trans in track mode and when your driving it normal it will still have that factory feel

The transmission tuning is applied across all drive modes. Eco thru Track. All of them will behave slightly differently.

I can tell you the shifting is better and it wants to hold certain gears longer on the street and isnt too keen on getting to 8th as quick as possible anymore...this is a good thing. It drives much more "normal" in a sense and is better at selecting the right gear.

Curt will advise to not beat on the car unless transmission is in track mode. The way it behaves in track mode is...eye opening. Quick, firm and precise. Its gonna let you know it ain't time to play around that's for sure.

spend that little bit more on the trans. tune you won`t regret it.

I like the way the trans "acts" in default mode when just cruising around town.

Then I thought if I wanted get after it I could switch to sport or track modes

I don’t think he changes the default part in default mode mines shifts normal

I know that to achieve the shift rpm for racing, OSTs trans. tune only happens when all modes are in sport. I had that but don`t like having to drag the car with suspension in sport mode, I would prefer street mode.

Are you modifying for the Track or just some extra fast Fun on the streets.

What you are doing is pretty mild. I think you will be OK if you don't have or want Trans Tuning. Like most that are posting they like Trans Tuning it does help with Drag racing a better ET.
So it's not required for that power level on pump gas but it will compliment the build.

My Hellcat has been Tuned since 2015 and Did Not have Trans Tuning until last Fall.

Not drag racing. Just as you put it "fast fun on the street".
So not chasing every last 100th of a second.
I would also like to keep the rpms down to near stock so I feel like a trans tune is kind of pointless for me, unless it will effect the reliability of the trans by not having it tuned? Which was my initial question.

OP definitely get the trans tune. Given a choice of only trans or pcm I'd chose trans everytime that's how big of a difference it makes.

Only the trans has to be in sport on my OST tune. I use custom mode and leave suspension in street

I asked an was told could not be done at this time, every time I tried at the track I would set up custom so everything was in sport except suspension an the trans. would shift at factory settings an car would run slower.
so not sure why, an hpinty seems to be able to do what your doing as well.
