Ok, on the fence which predominantly used on the STREET tire to purchase for this coming season. Either a 305 or 315 20” tire. Predominant use performance from a standing start to 1/4+ mile and 60-130+ roll racing.
I’ve used Nitto NT05R and 555R2 so I have allot of experience with their pro’s and con’s but have read good things about Michelin PS4S as well and thinking about trying a different street tire.
Some thoughts come to mind on the decision, looking for input to help make a choice as 2 tires are going to be 950-1150$ Plus mounting and balancing.

Only dry pavement use

The PS4S would probably last longer?

I’ve read the PS4S grip longer into their life then the DR’s do? Especially verse the MT Street SS ET I’ve read

Is there a better choice in the Michelin line then the PS4S for the intended use?

Input from experience wanted please.

Well it is all about what you really want. No way is the PS4S hooking like a drag radial. I put about 10k on my car a year. I found the nitto 555r would last me 15k on my mustang. The new 555r2 lasted just over 10k on the Hellcat.

For me I like the nittos on the street being they work great in the rain also and use the M/T at the track

The PS4S will last longer but even a stock Hellcat is going to spin them.

The PS4 is a great tire but in no way is it a drag radial . They will definitely last longer but will not hook as well . I too am still trying to figure out what tire to get .

For street use the ps4s is pretty good. I can do a 50 roll and the car spins a little but still goes straight 😂
But I will say I’m going 555r2 for street use next time. I don’t care about tires wear. The ps4s wear amazing they’ve seen some pretty Smokey burnout outs and still in great shape.

Why can't we get a tire that wears like iron , provides a soft ride like cotton , sticks like suction cups no matter the weather , is quiet as a church mouse and light as a feather???
It can't be that hard to make !

If tires wore less then they’d sell less tires 😂

Don’t forget to add light as a feather to your list of things of a perfect tire.

Do the Nittos do as well all around? Like comfort, noise, wet traction, etc?

I have 555r2 315 35 20 on the back of my car. They look great but the spin too easily. They are better than stock Pirelli's but still aren't that great in my opinion.

I’ve been in @vortecd car and notice no noise really. But I’m used to my daily which is on mud tires and those are loud.
he daily’s his car year round and I think he got stuck in a light snow dusting on the nitros and he made it home from work without issue.

Happy with my 315 NT05r’s on 20in HR5’s at this time. Got three seasons, about 4.5k miles out of them and still have some life. May try MT’s next year. Would really like to go 17’s though.

I have a set of MT 315/50-17 MT Street R’s and have tested them on the street against a set of brand new 315 NT05R and a brand new set of 555R2’s and without heating the Street R’s up first they stuck no better then the Nitto’s. 3 1/4 mile pulls each tire within 1/2 hour of each on the same patch of road (yes, I have a few sets of rims) Tire I wish I had to pit again these at that time would have been a PS4S but at 550 a tire at the moment for a 315 it’s a 1000$ gamble. I’ve put about 15,000 miles on a few sets of NT05R’s and 555R2’s, get 3-4000 miles out of a set at best so I’m well versed what they can do on the street. I’ve read tire posts of past and a few have chimed in the PS4S is a superior street tire that hooks up as good as the Nitto DR’s but hook for more miles then the Nitto’s which I can say once the Nitto’s get down to the wear bars they are pretty much done hooking after that. MT Street ET SS about the same, I had a set of them in 275 size and killed then in a week. They stuck hood for the first day and one break loose in third kept them spinning past 100 for a smoke show and got home to almost bald tires on the first day they where on the car. Maybe 315’s in them would be fair better I don’t know. That’s the topic of this thread. Who’s run them all to know for sure???? Anyone???

My first post (at the other place) back in 17 was due to trying to figure out what tires to use on these cars.
I've had MT's, Nittos, and PS4's.
(For me)
Michilen lasted longer.
MT's we're spooky in (south Mississippi) rain.
Nittos we're probably the best out of the 3 for me.

I went from the stock pirellis (garbage) to the 555R2 to the PS4S

The nittos worked well, great actually imo for a street tire (I don't care that they claim to be a drag radial, imo they are NOT a drag tire)
the Nittos lasted longer than the stock pirellis but only about 7500 miles. They were great new, rain or dry, but close to the wear bars and they got scary in the rain and gave up in the dry.
Most recently went to the PS4S and I've been happy. They don't hook as good as the Nittos, but they are very predictable and controllable which works fine for me
