Maple Grove Raceway has closed indefinitely effective August 17, 2026, to undergo "strategic refocusing, restructuring, and regrouping". This sudden shutdown suspends the remainder of the 2026 racing schedule following ongoing operational struggles and legal disputes involving its parent company, the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA)

Although we went there for T&T and also raced with the MSHS series, Maple Grove was never one of my favorite tracks to visit. Breakdowns during T&T were constant, and the cleanup always seemed to take forever. I did, however, enjoy the drive there and the area it was in.

Maple Grove was supposed to be a centerpiece of the IHRA’s big expansion after IHRA acquired the track in December 2025. Maybe they really needed to shut it down to get the reorganization done.

1000% agree.. same can be said about Cecil some days as well. Always like options and MG is were I have my PB so kind of hurts.

MG is in the process of going back to the Koretsky's. It's going to take time to work out the legal mess. They will be fine. Should be back to normal by next year. I predict NHRA national event will return by 2028.

which tracks are closing. not many I am aware of. Struggling, yes.
The IHRA tracks (other than VMP and MG) will depend on who buys them.

VMP is also near a dear to my heart. I have a 2006 10.5 GTO national trophy from an event there.
