Guys, Vortec is talking about Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, IL. Oh yea, and it IS on Route 66! . It starts at Jackson & Michigan in downtown Chicago and ends at the Santa Monica Pier, in LA.

I don't have any inside info., other than they are running a Div. 3 race there this month, and a lot of hope that the National Event will return next year, but other than that, a lot of mystery to me.

Well, to hit it from the start he'd have to head down to Jackson & Lake Shore Drive in Chicago then hit Route 66 Raceway about 45 miles southwest of there.

I know he charges passengers a few extra bucks when he has the taco bar in the back......but it's well worth it.

Hitchhikers...haven't seen one of those in 20 yrs....as a school kid that's how I got around...

They are still alive and well, esp out west. Usually hanging at an on-ramp entrance with the requisite sign, etc. Except these days you gotta make sure there aren't 3 other people waiting in the bushes to rob you. That's usually flushed out though if you drive about 100 ft past them, then pull over.

Of course......they also don't expect anyone to be ready for any shenanigans.

Silly rabbits.

What is crazy, NASCAR won't return. They are slated to do a city race on Chicago streets in 2023.
Not a NASCAR fan at all, but i'm tempted to go see that race.

Joliet was built in the mid 90's with huge stands. The other 2 were built 60 or so years ago with little improvements
