Yesterday, we got our first taste of decent air (+900DA) in the red-eye. We are on the cusp of trapping 145 mph in the quarter mile at full weight with a 28 x 10.5 radial. No nitrous. Stock engine and stock blower with stock pulleys running E85.

We knew the car would need to back half around +33 MPH to get there. Those of you who study incremental know how big of a deal this is- especially in a nearly stock car running injectors and a tune. Many did not think this was possible, but here it is...

Wow - picking up almost 33mph on the back end in a stock boost car is insane, I don’t care what fuel you’re running!!

We have some e98 on hand but have not gotten far enough along in our testing process to try it.

Wait...

Are you saying you trapped 145, and that this is +33 from your stock trap???

Surely not, right?

33 MPH gain from the 1/8 mile mark to the 1/4 mile mark.

I'm saying the car is picking up 33 mile on the back half. Subtract the 1/8th mile trap speed from the Quarter mile trap speed. The difference is the back half gain, which in this case is almost +33 MPH. Folks who know how to measure real power use these two metrics ( 1/4 mile trap , and back half gain) as their power "bible". In other words, this is my dyno...

These 2 numbers and the weight of the car will tell you how quick the car should ET. Once you have a car that makes power like this, you then work on the other incrementals to get them where they need to be so they correlate with the 2 main metrics.

Agreed. My stock Demon has an increase of around 27 MPH in great air, so 33 MPH increase at this time of year is huge.

Sadness reigns ... :(

You know, I love living in Colorado, but when I have to compare numbers with you guys that are racing in DAs 8000+ft lower than me, it's kind of rough...

The best number I could come up with (for my stock MY16 M6 HC) was +30mph from 1/8 to 1/4. And I had to do some math to extrapolate that number, so there's a better than not chance that it's not accurate. +26 is typical.

Colorado has a lot of other positive attributes though.
