Well....maybe they stuck the wrong pads in my rear brakes....maybe i got the non-dynamics pads? Or maybe they changed the pads? Weird....I wonder if I should call the dealership and see if this is a potential warranty claim then....

It does seem to be consistent.

I think I have my O.E. pads somewhere accessible, I'll go check and if I do I'll post a picture of them.

Even if they do turn out to have a square shoulder, it could simply be a specification change.

So my '16 HC and my '19 DSRT are the same.

But again, this really feels like a spec change given 3 examples of it.

Ok, BULL if there's no chamfer at the top (albeit ones a HC '16 and ones a Durango '19) what gives ?

Anyone have the spec sheets for the brake assembly handy? I don't doubt that its "factory" with three or more cars showing it, but it is just odd to me. I'm sure it's a cost saving measure ("see, we'll buy all the same rotors and utilize only a limited area on them because of x, y, and z"). I mean, at the very least it would seem there is either some performance left on the table or some unnecessary weight, small as it is, that could be lost.
Bad oil cooler lines...I'm just saying

Dynamics or no shouldn't matter, same rear brakes. Maybe it is possible there was a pad change along the way. My OEM pads look the same as Bull's and here's a pic of my '17 Daytona rears with Z26 pads currently-

I did change my front/rear pads fairly early, so I don't remember if there was unused area on the rears from the OEM pads.

I wouldn't say quite that... But thanks!

Really, a good picture of those pads will tell the story.

Even if they made a pad change. It would be a compound change, it should still fully use the surface of the rotor. Thats why I was curious about the rear surface, if it was the same as the front surface. I have been in auto mechanics for 45 years. and have not seen this condition except when the wrong pads were installed. It's normal to have maybe a 1/4" from after market pads. But in know way this much.

I find this interesting, so I went out and checked my '19 Red Eye. The wear pattern is across the whole surface of the rotor, except for maybe 1/8" (at the most) at the inner and outer edges of the surface. Might be interesting to compare production dates and mileage. Mine was built in April of '19 and I now have 3,500 miles on it. My bet is they made a production change somewhere during the production year. What say y'all?

Where are you guys finding those strange rotor pictures?? 2019 REWB delivered Jan 19, built Christmas week of '18. The pads look just like any rear pads sold by Hawk and Powerstop.

Mine was built in early November, first week, 2019. As soon as I got home with it I noticed it but thought....Probably will wear in.......well now I have almost 1200 miles on it and its still like that....

That's a great pic and if you look you can see the same tell tail line from the earlier wear mark before they were doing full contact. How many miles?

If its just a matter of the wrong pad, I would rather just swap out to the PowerStop pads anyway.....these pads make a lot of dust....

Wow, I bet they are putting regular scat pack pads in the rears.....I feel ripped to some degree.....but the fronts are doing most of the braking.....I guess the Powerstop Pads are in my future....I was going to wait until the factory pads were worn out but now I don't want to b/c the rotors will be garbage by then.....Did you go to the dealership and ask about warranty repairs for that with yours? I am wondering if this is a defect or something...

I was going to on my 2nd oil change at 5000 miles, but when I saw every challenger on the lot with the SAME unused portion of the rotor, I knew all they would do is go out there and point to all 10+ on the lot and tell me its normal. Even the chargers had it.

IMO this seems to be a 2019 issue, as neither my 2018 T/A nor 15 HC looked like that. Granted both of those cars had the big brake kit and my 1320 doesnt BUT Im pretty sure the rear brakes are all the same. Its only the fronts that are different.. EDIT: My build is Sept 2019

I may order a set of OEM Rear pads for a 2018 and see if they end up being different or the same. I also may just order Z26 pads again but the dust on these brakes isnt nearly as bad as the pads on the big brake kit.
