Short wheelbase vehicles with lots of power can be quite fun...and also lethal.

Told it what a lucky MF queen it is. Got the $400 natural gas only bill for the month ending Jan 5. Shit that was before it got cold! It sits in a nice climate controlled garage all winter that is part of the heating bill. I expect every bit of a $500 bill soon. Electricity was about $250. Nice.

I heat the bar and the Man cave with propane..(.2x 100 gal each....)...they generally come the end of the first wk every month to fill....they had to come a week ago as I was almost out...used almost 15 days more propane this month...might have to turn the heat down from 65 to 60...my heating guy said that will make a HUGE difference

I only have a 500 gallon tank for the garage so I keep it at 50 or so, which is nicer for working anyway. But it still needs to be filled more often than the 1,000 gallon tank for the house and guesthouse that are kept at about 62.

During the negative temps especially the -10 to -20 days I have turned both the big garage and what we call the “shed” (that little 26x28 exterior building holding all our lawn equipment and a couple of other nice things) both down to 50-55 degrees to help. Going to work on the Cat today and splurge :p That big garage is going up to the upper 60’s for MY benefit today. Flipping snowed one of those little 1-2” back pack eligible snowfalls last night I need to get to this morning too.

You go ahead. I sleep at 58-60 degrees so not a wuss. Laying on the floor and using some liquids calls for more than 50 degrees for me. Shit I think some of the items I buff the Cat with recommends fundamentally warmer surface temps to work properly.

The shed is super insulated and sealed. In the past getting the chopper out of the shed early in the spring sometimes had dew form on the chrome because stuff remained so cool in there well into the “warmer” weather..

Yep, I believe that. This stretch of cold temps seems to be some of the worst we have seen pass thru in at least 15 yrs here. Sorry Jimmy, you live somewhere over there that does not count. Too far west to enjoy the temp volatility we are speaking of this year. Not even on the same page as the temps we have been experiencing.

Yeah, I prefer about 55 degrees, but the sun generally warms the house up to 60 something during the day. And laying on the floor in the garage is quite pleasurable, even at 50 degrees, thanks to the floor heat. Either way, I prefer working outside.

No, we haven't had any winter yet. A couple of snowfalls in the 4-5" range has been all so far. There were a couple of nights with lows around 3 degrees, but for the most part it's been lows at 15-20 and highs in the low 50s.

I'm getting lots done that normally wouldn't have happened until April or so.

I’m done under the back. Detailed those control wires on each side on that Toe Arm. Got it fairly clean. Added the only brushed sort of shiny item it has, that sway link. That is good for an old chrome Harley guy. Cute. Now to get up front and do an oil change and re-pack the BMR Sway bushings. Then I’m getting the goodies out to keep it shiny on top. Inspection says good to go suspension wise.;).

I don't heat my garage or barn because they are not insulated, I use a propane heater if I need to do something for a day.

Why don't you guys just leave the heat off then turn it on the day before you have a project?

BTW: My spray wax and Lexol are by the fire right now, they are frozen solid.

My dad use to turn his heat on then go to town for a coffee
When he came back the garage was warm but everything in it was cold
I didn t realize how bad it sucked until I had my own place with constant heat

My neighbor has a pole barn with no heat
All his beer froze last week

The trauma !!!!!

Both the attached big garage with the Challenger inside it and the “shed” are insulated and finished. Yesterday for example just turned it up to comfy temps. I like to keep the garage in the 60’s, but save energy if that is possible and turn it down to 50’s when it wants to get below zero outside. I have to lay under it with the QuickJack working, so a cold concrete floor would not work out well. My old back is bad enough just getting up and down under it a few times.

Thanks. Coming from someone so anal he shines the exhaust pipes, I appreciate that. The final “dream home” coming soon is going to have a real lift, period.

Just about ready to start working on the Octane Red parts. I’ll start at the bottom, then get the wheels and tires on it and put it down to the lower level and finally on the floor. It needs to be ready to go by March 3. I got a little additional body tune-up scheduled that will take about six weeks before I can lift too many things. I even have shot the exhaust valves up with lube this past weekend.

Don't forget to leave "open spots" for the lift when routing the tubing for the floor heat.

I had 2x2x2 foot "blocks" poured in the floor where the lift would go. Unfortunately the contractor's drawing was off by a foot, so sure enough, I drilled into the Pex on the third hole.
