I’ve just recently purchased a 2020 Dodge Charger Hellcat and am coming up on having to do it’s first oil change. I notice some of the kits for it have 8 quarts instead of 7 because of the oil cooler, but there are also kits with only 7 quarts. Does the oil cooler need be drained at each engine oil change I do or does it have a different interval?

I always drain it with each oil change but it does not hold 1qt. if fluid, just a few oz.

Full oil change is 7 quarts and I do recommend to drain the cooler.

To clarify, it is about 7q if you drain the oil cooler, less if you do not. If you don't race, or push your engine similarly, and do 6mo or 1y changes, you are fine not draining the cooler. But this is a labor of love and we all do it every time!

Pics please.

and immobilize the aluminum block that the oil cooler drain plug threads into with a wrench when loosening and tightening. It’s on a flimsy mount that you don’t want to twist.
